Microchipping

Looking to Microchip for Your Pet?
No more waiting in line in busy vet clinics. We come to you!

Why should you microchip your dog or cat?

    • Assists in re-homing lost animals
    • Results in fewer animanls being euthanased
    • May decrease the number of animal thefts
    • Gives owners peace of mind

More owners are using microchips to keep their animals safe.
If the pet is lost, the animal shelter or Veterinarian, can scan the cat or dog to see the number and then you will then be contacted for the safe return your pet. However, it is essential that you keep your contact information up to date.

   What is a microchip?
A pet microchip consists of a tiny tube (about the size of a grain of rice) that is inserted under the skin. The microchip is sealed in a sterile capsule, there is very little chance for infection or rejection. The process is a very quick and requires no anesthesia. And finally, since the chip requires no power it never needs replacing. The pet microchip contains only a number.

   Microchipping Registration
Importantly, once the microchip is inserted, you need to register the microchip. It is required by law for dog owners to inform the Auckland City Council of the microchip number. (cats are not necessary).
Once your pet has been microchipped with us, your pet will be registered with NZ Companion Register.

Your contact information will be available to the agency who finds your pet and scans the microchip for safe return of your pet.
